NHS DENTAL CHARGES (for patients who are not exempt)

There are three charging bands for NHS dental care:

Band 1

18.50 which includes an examination, diagnosis and advice. It will also include x-rays, a scale and polish if clinically necessary, and further treatment planning if required.

Band 2

50.50 which includes all of the treatments from Band 1, and additionally fillings, root canal therapy and extractions.

Band 3

219.00 which covers all of the treatments from Bands 1 and 2, but includes crowns, dentures and bridges if clinically necessary.

We are entitled to ask you to pay for your dental treatment at any stage of your treatment, and our policy is to request payment once the work within a charging band has commenced. Please ask our receptionists for further details.

How often do I need to visit my dentist?

It is important to visit your dentist for routine checkups although the interval between your visits will depend on your oral health at various stages in your life. It is important to attend regular checkups in order to maintain good oral health, and help to prevent future problems.

If you are experiencing any problems between your planned check ups, then please ring us for an earlier appointment which will also be covered under the NHS.

Which dental treatments are available under the NHS?

Any dental treatment which your dentist feels is clinically necessary in order to maintain good oral health for your teeth, gums and mouth and pain free is available under the NHS. If a dentist says that the prescribed treatment is clinically necessary, then you would not expect to have to pay for it privately.

Cosmetic treatments which are not clinically necessary for example veneers and teeth whitening are not available under the NHS as they are used to improve the appearance of your teeth and make them look more attractive.

If you are interested in having cosmetic dental treatments, your dentist will tell you how much you will have to pay, and these charges will be in addition to your NHS dental charges.

We at Ambience Dental Practice recognise that all patients are cost conscious, and with this in mind, we have set our cosmetic treatment fees very competitively . We always endeavour to provide affordable cosmetic dental treatments. We also have a finance plan to help with the spreading of the cost of cosmetic dental care. Please ask at reception for further details.
